Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago
As parents of eight children, and grandparents to 18 grandchildren, John and Kathy Schreiber have a deep connection to Lurie Children’s. They have been funding Lurie Children’s for more than a decade, and - over the years - have developed a mission-aligned partnership, focused on enhancing access to Lurie Children’s outstanding care. In 2022, Schreiber Philanthropy made a $25M commitment to help launch the Schreiber Family Center for Early Childhood Health and Wellness, which focuses on the most important years of development, starting in the womb to age five. The “center without walls” encompasses initiatives that touch many different aspects of early childhood, from supporting expectant parents to enhancing training for the early childhood workforce. Though many of our programs benefit children throughout the Chicagoland area and beyond, the Schreiber Family Center includes a special focus on Chicago’s South and West Sides, and will also support the Austin Community Health Hub. All programs are evidence-based and are rooted in community partnership and evaluation, informing best practices to be shared across the country.
